Gallery2 has this functionality, but I just discovered it now.

Okay, it's not really new new, but its newer. Try it out and let me know what you think. If you like, I can import your gallery1 photos fairly easily. Gallery 2 and Gallery 1 are run separately, so whatever you do in one is not reflected in the other.

Eventually, I'll be moving everything over to G2 and removing G1. G2 isn't in a final-enough state to do so yet though.

G2 seems to put a bigger load on my host's servers, so it does chug a bit sometimes. I am looking into this issue.
